Buddy is a blue and white dog offered at stud to approved bitches, of good temperament.

He is genetically clear of CEA and TNS, has been DNA tested clear for CL and has a hip score of 5:2. He does not have glaucoma and passed his gonioscopy test. He is BAER hearing tested and carries a current clear eye certificate until July 2012 when he will be tested again. You will receive a copy of all his health certificates upon the first successful mating, however, you are welcome to view his certificates prior to any mating.

The stud fee will cover up to two matings, two days apart. I would recommend a pre-mate test prior to making the journey to visit him as it is hard, especially with a maiden bitch, to know exactly when she is ready for mating. Pre-mate testing is done via your local vet, costs approximately £30 and you will get the results usually within 24 hours. I expect the bitch to be brought to our home where you will all be made welcome.

I recommend that you allow your bitch to urinate just before the mating takes place as it would be beneficial to not allow her to urinate for a least two hours after mating.

Whilst mating is obviously a natural occurance be prepared for a long wait as sometimes the bitch might be scared or worried and take some time to settle down. Also, do not wear your best clothes/shoes as very often owners have to step in when the tie occurs and it is always better to be comfortable in this most unusual of circumstances.

Once a mating has taken place I will expect payment in cash, the price will be on application. You will be given a receipt, this is your proof of the mating and I will happily sign the KC Registration certificate. Buddy does not carry the CEA, CL or TNS gene so will not pass these illnesses onto his puppies.

An ultrasound scan between 4 and 5 weeks should confirm pregnancy. If the bitch is not in whelp then a repeat mating will be offered at her next season.

Once the pregnancy has been confirmed I will happily help find suitable homes for the puppies as I am just as responsible for their welfare as the bitch's owner.

Buddy will sire black and white puppies, blue and white if the bitch carries the dilute gene and he possibly carries the tri-colour gene. Obviously it is not all up to Buddy so the bitche's genes will impact on the puppies' colours too. Buddy will not be offered at stud to blue and white bitches.

He has a full scissor bite, correct shoulder assembly, level topline, excellent ear carriage and placement, good stop, tight, oval feet, well let down pasterns, excellent angles, good bone, straight legs front and back and a long tail of excellent length. He moves with reach and drive, construction for a working dog that should be able to work all day.

Buddy is a very high drive dog so it is reasonable to believe that his puppies will be of the same character. He needs lots of mental stimulation as well as physical so I would recommend his puppies go to homes where they will be trained appropriately.

Buddy is a truly verstile dog, excelling at his number one job - agility - he also does flyball and is a competent demonstration dog for our Dog Training School in the basic obedience and puppy classes. He loves to play with the puppies in our classes and has many friends and fans at BUDS. He's protective of his family and is happy to be handled and is confident around children.
