Sunnie nesting in her whelping box

09.30 hours - Sunnie has begun nesting, is very restless and is panting a lot, so we definitely won't be waiting much longer. I slept on the settee last night night so I'm feeling a bit weary. I'm intending to have a big breakfast, then try and have a kip. Right now Sunnie has snuggled up in Tipsy's bed looking very calm and serene.

17.45 hours - not much change, lots of panting, peaing and trashing of the newspaper in her whelping box. I reckon she's holding off until its quiet tonight.

19.00 hours - Sunnie has made a right mess of her whelping box with all her shredding. She has started to have contractions - which we are timing - won't be long now. Once the first pup is out I will relax.

Our first pup arrives

At 22.07 hours our first pup arrives weighing 14oz, its a boy, classically marked black and white. Sunnie made short work of cleaning him and herself up. This time she knew exactly what to do immediately and got on with it.

Puppy number 2, its a girl!

Almost an hour later, another pup, came out - feet first. This time its a girl, classically marked black and white weighing 13 3/4oz . Honestly, I've never heard such a noisey pup!

Sunnie with her new babies

What an anxious time, after several hours no more puppies came. I feel asleep on the sofa next to the whelping box at 3.00am and woke up in a panic at 6.00am. Checked again - no more puppies had arrived. I rang the Vet to ask their advice and knew I would only feel happy when I knew there was nothing wrong.

Off we went in the car, kids too - bless them they were superstars - The Vet checked her, gave her a scan and no, definitely no more puppies on board. We don't know why but it may be that she re-absorbed any others for reasons only she will know.

Anyway, what a super Mum she's being yet again, those pups want for nothing and even Skye has been allowed a little peak.

Having a hug

The Girls have given them provisional names so we know who we are talking about when;

Meet Nacho and Taylor (or Blob and Spot as I keep calling them because they are hard to tell apart, except that Nacho has a blob on his head and Taylor has a spot)
